Through three weeks of the 2026 Texas high school football season, Lake Travis has played just over six and a half quarters of football.

The Cavaliers canceled their season opener on Aug. 28 vs. Dripping Springs due to the death of senior offensive lineman Odin Hensley. Lake Travis opened the season with a win on Sept. 4, but then its Sept. 11 game was called with 4:42 left in the third quarter due to lightning and inclement weather.

That makes Friday, Sept. 18's matchup against Cornerstone Christian a big one for the Cavaliers, who will enter 1-0-1 after they tied with Cibolo Steele at the time of the cancelation of the rest of the game.

In a related development, the Warriors (3-1) are coming off a 42-16 win over Parish Episcopal on Friday, Sept. 11. Cornerstone Christian enters the matchup on a two-game winning streak.

Furthermore, the game is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. CT at San Marcos High School in San Marcos, Texas.

Lake Travis trailed 28-21 entering halftime of last week's game. The Cavaliers scored the lone touchdown in the second half to end the game in a tie before it was called off due to inclement weather.

Additionally, quarterback Jason Carter completed 8-of-13 passes for 193 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the tie. Through nearly two full games, Carter has 496 passing yards, four touchdowns and an interception in 2026 for Lake Travis.

Lake Travis will play this game at another neutral site, as its stadium is still undergoing the $48.3 million expansion project. The Cavaliers also played away from home in 2025, as the stadium expands from 7,400 seats to 12,000, among several other improvements.

The Warriors' lone loss of the season was a 59-10 road loss to IMG Academy on Aug. 29. Cornerstone Christian is 155-58 in its wins this season.

It is worth noting that dL/DE prospect Ahzan Bacote is one of the top players for Cornerstone Christian. The three-star recruit has already racked up 5.5 sacks this season. He has been committed to Arizona since June 2.

Thursday will mark the first time that Lake Travis and Cornerstone Christian will face off. The Warriors' schedule this season also includes IMG Academy (Fla.), Lake Travis (TX), Massillon (OH), Hun School (NJ) and St. John's College (District of Columbia).
